Oslo Unplugged

As good fate would have it, upon our return to Arundel from Bergen, Pieter came up with a plan B as the weather had turned to wet and stormy. The Oslo apartment was within a three hour drive and the skies were clear and sunny in the Nation's Capital, and as it turned out, the temperatures were in the mid 20's.
We had a good walk about the following morning, exploring the local neighbourhood where, as it turned out, many embassies were located. The architecture of the stately homes and embassies was truly impressive.
Our walk took us down towards the water and our destination of the Viking Ship Museum. The Vikings were prominent between 750 and 1050 AD and the museum itself is the home to four Viking ships which were discovered in the early 1900's. They had been preserved primarily because they had been used as coffins to bury nobility along with artifacts which would aid the deceased in the after life.
Lunch by the harbour is always a welcome respite and the mussels and beer a good combination.
A quick ride across the harbour by pedestrian ferry and we find ourselves swallowed up by the hordes of sun seekers walking the expansive and renowned Aker Byrgge Pedestrian Boardwalk.
I'd almost swear we were on a Beer and Wine Festival Tour by the number of terraces and restaurants we have enjoyed over the past two weeks. Alas, this over indulgence of food and drink has to end, as we start our journey home.
Thanks to the extreme hospitality of Pieter and Inger, (Click on video Arundel ) we hope to be back again some day. Not soon enough, but as I always say "you have to go home if you want to come back." I hope you have enjoyed traveling along with us and until next time. Skal!!!
